David Snyder, MD

New Patients Existing patients

After graduating from the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Dr. Snyder completed his Medical Internship at Charity Hospital (Tulane University) in New Orleans and his Neurology Residency at the University of Maryland Hospital. Following this clinical training he was a Research Fellow at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which was funded by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr. Snyder then spent several years working in what was probably one of the first comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Centers in the country at St. Barnabas Hospital (Bronx). Following that, he joined N.Y. Neurological Associates P.C., and has since been engaged in the practice of Neurology for over thirty years.

"Because many of my patients have chronic conditions, I have learned that the person I meet today may be someone I will follow for a long time to come. So, it is important for me to develop a relationship with each person who comes to my office, regardless of what they come in for initially. Listening to my patients and putting them at ease, whether I’ll see them again next week, or next year, is critical to developing their trust over the long term. While my subspecialty focus is on multiple sclerosis, I welcome all general neurology patients into my practice."

"In medical school, I was fascinated by the diagnostic puzzles of clinical neurology. While I still enjoy diagnostic challenges, forging long-term relationships with patients has proven to be the most fulfilling aspect of my medical career. My strong relationships are based upon collaboration with my patients, their caregivers, and their other health care providers. I respect patients’ time and accommodate busy schedules by offering early morning and evening appointments. I strive to maintain open and easy lines of communication by giving my patients direct phone access and by encouraging electronic communication via ourportal."

"
Neurological conditions have the potential to make patients and their families feel very vulnerable. I believe that a physician’s ability to recognize and address this is essential in the development of a successful relationship with patients. Aside from diagnosing and treating individuals, I strive to empower my patients by providing them with accurate medical information, listening to specific concerns, and encouraging them to be involved in their care."
